VOTING BILL OF RIGHTS for TENNESSEANS WITH DISABILITIES

I am a citizen of Tennessee. The Constitution of the United States of America says I have the right to take part in my civic life.

As a registered voter, I have the right to vote in this election.

I have the right to vote by myself or with help. I can select who I want to assist me. If you cannot provide what I ask for, we can agree on another way.

Even if I have a conservator, I may vote unless a court said I couldn’t.

I have the right to feel free to vote the way I want.

No one can deny my right to vote. I have the right to get information on what to do if someone tries to stop me from voting.

I have the right for someone to show me how to use the voting equipment and what happens if I make a mistake.

I have the right to vote if I am waiting in line when the poll closes.

I can use a written sworn statement as my proof of who I am (where I live, etc.).

An election official cannot tell me I do not have the right to vote. They must contact their local election commission.
If you need help or a problem comes up about any of the above, stay at the polling site and call for help from one of these groups:

  1. Local County Election Commission
  2. Tennessee Election Officials: Brook Thompson, TN State Coordinator of Elections, 615/741-7956
  3. Disability Law & Advocacy Center of TN: 1-800/342-1660
